10 Disappointment Destroyers

  1. Write down five things you have to be thankful for (i.e. a special husband who understands, a friend to talk with, a mother who cares, etc.)  Look up in the back of your Bible all the verses on thankful and/or thankfulness and read them out loud. (Psalm 100)

  2. Praise the Lord that He made you very special and He has the best plans for your life (Psalm 139:13-14).

  3. Take your thoughts captive.  This means guard where you allow your thoughts to take you & what path you will allow them to go down.  This can be very productive or very damaging. (Romans 12:1-2)

  4. Memorize some of the verses listed in this booklet.  The Bible tells us to "think on these things."  (Philippians 4:8)

  5. Take a walk daily in the sunshine.  Exercise releases frustration and tension.  Do some type of workout around other people.  Join a gym and participate in some exercise classes. (1 Corinthians 3:16-17)

  6. Eat healthy.  God tells us to glorify Him with our bodies. When you eat a lot of sugar you have really high highs and low lows.  Be careful with what you eat. (1 Corinthians 10-31)

  7. Take time for others.  Do something for someone else.  Take someone who is hurting a meal even if you are hurting or discouraged yourself. (Galations 6:2)

  8. Go on a mini-vacation with a dear friend or your husband.  Find a place that you enjoy going (i.e. Charleston, SC; Savannah, GA; the mountains or beach, etc.) to relax when you can take a few days off. (Psalm 37:4-5)

  9. Find a fun hobby.  Collect something with a friend or take a class in knitting or crocheting.  (1 Thessalonians 4:11)

  10. Read a Christian book or devotional along with your Bible. Check out our website at www.calebministries.org.  I recommend Trusting God By Jerry Bridges or When God Weeps By Joni Erickson Tada.  I have read Trusting God four times. (2 Timothy 2:15)
